You could ask several people what they think it means to be pro-life and you would get several different answers. This is a subject that many people have differing opinions about, but it is also something that is a hot topic. People seem to be fighting for or against abortions every time you turn around. So, what does it mean to end a life? When does a life start? When or even should abortion be an option? The questions seem to be endless. Jim Blockey for Congress is here to talk about what it means to him to be pro-life.
Understanding What Pro-Life Means
This debate over what pro-life actually means, is no new topic. It has been thrown around for decades. In the 1970s, the term pro-life started to truly become a political force. A common misconception is that people who are pro-life don’t believe in the power of choice. This couldn’t be further from the truth. The choices simply look different for those that are pro-life. There is a choice between parenting and adoption when someone is pro-life. They aren’t willing to end the baby’s life but make a choice as to what that life will look like outside of the womb. For those that are pro-choice, they believe that it is the right of the mother to end the life of the unborn.
Pro-Life is not Anti-Woman
There are those that will argue that when someone is pro-life, they are anti-woman. This is another fallacy that needs to stop. This is an assumption that women aren’t able to be happy or successful if they are mothers. The opposite is true. When women are supported, they can find that fulfillment they are looking for. Those that are pro-life believe that women should be protected as well as supported through motherhood, whatever that looks like.
Pro-Life for ALL Life
Both men and women should be supported and are supported in the pro-life movement.
– Men & Women Included: Every child deserves to have both a mother and a father in their lives. The pro-life story includes both men and women in creating a culture that values all life.
– Pro-Action: Those that are pro-life can provide compassionate support for both men and women in a variety of ways. Taking action in volunteering, supporting, and providing helps move the pro-life movement forward.
– Defend Life Beginning to End: Unfortunately, both babies and the elderly need to have their lives protected. There are people that would like to devalue life on both sides.
